How To Save WhatsApp Status Photos & Videos Without Screenshots

Last year, Facebook-owned WhatsApp rolled out a new feature called ‘Status‘ which is essentially a clone of Snapchat Story(people don’t use Snapchat that much). With the Status feature, users can share Text, Photos, and Videos with their WhatsApp friends which would disappear automatically after 24 hours. This is actually useful if you are somewhere like in a movie or a cricket match and you want to share your experience with your friends.

The WhatsApp Status is secured with end-to-end encryption which means only the sender and receiver can see the information and only your selected contacts can see that status. Whenever someone WhatsApp you a photo or video it automatically stores on yours mobile memory but Photos and videos shared in WhatsApp Status cannot be saved on your mobile like the photos, videos which your friend have shared in a personal or a group chat. Of course, you can always take a snapshot of a photo or record the video using a screen recorder. But, chances are you will get your friends name on the top of the pic or video while taking screenshot or screen recording.

The reason for saving photos and videos shared by your friend in his status can be different for all. If it is something impressive, funny or educational, you might also want to share it further with your friends and family. Well, we will show you how to save WhatsApp Status, photos and videos on your mobile in this post. Sit tight and follow the easy steps.

Steps to Save WhatsApp Status Photos & Videos Without Screenshot

Step 1. First of all, you will need a file manager app with some special features. We used the one named ‘ES File Explorer’ as it was already on our mobile. You can download it from here.

Step 2. Now open the ES File Explorer app and tap on hamburger icon (three horizontal lines) located at the top-left corner of the screen( shown by a red box).

Step 3. Under this special bar menu, you will see an option saying “Show Hidden Files“. If it is selected then you are good to go but if not then tap on the checkbox right next to it and you will see a blue-colored enabled mark as you can see in the image down below.

Step 4. Now go back to the main screen of the ES File Explorer and tap on ‘Device‘. Now you can see all the folders that are created by different applications and games on your mobile. Keep scrolling down and find WhatsApp, tap on the folder named ‘WhatsApp as shown in the fig down below.

However, please keep in mind that only those photos and videos will appear in this .Statuses folder that you have already viewed from within WhatsApp status feature. And, these photos and videos will also disappear from this folder automatically after 24 hours of being posted.

To save WhatsApp Status photo or video on your smartphone, you simply have to copy it somewhere else. To do this just select photo or video which you want to save. Now tap on ‘Copy‘, and then paste it into a folder that is in a different location, and All Done. Now, you will have it on your mobile even after 24 hours from when they were posted by your friend or relative without any screenshot or quality compromise.
